A violent rave-goer has been jailed for 20 months after attacking a man in a car park after a music festival.
Brute Sultan Siddiqi chased Jonathan Kerr around a parked car at Braehead and repeatedly punched, kneed and kicked his head and body.
After the thug was arrested on August 6, cops found him to be in possession of 14 ecstasy tablets.
The 28-year-old, who has five previous convictions for assault was slammed by Sheriff Brian Mohan who said, “drink, drugs and his propensity for violence makes him a risk to others”.
Prosecutor Edwin Sheeran previously told Paisley Sheriff Court Coloursfest was taking place at the Braehead Arena and the brutal assault took place in the car park.
Mr Sheeran explained: “Police became aware of a disturbance and found the accused chasing Mr Kerr around a parked car with his fists clenched.
“Kerr had facial injuries with blood coming from his nose and mouth.
“Witnesses informed police they observed the accused punching Kerr’s face and kicking him several times. Officers attempted to place handcuffs on the accused, however, he began to move his body about and shout, ‘Get the f**k off me, I’ll f*****g do you, I mean it, get your f*****g hands off me’.
“The accused was taken to the ground where he flailed his legs and continued to shout. He continued to struggle and began spitting at the police van that had arrived to deal with him.
“The accused then spat in the direction of PC Ferris with it just missing his face. Siddiqi then stated, ‘I’ll f*****g do you, you’re a f*****g bam’. He was then arrested.”
The court heard vile-mouthed Siddiqi was taken to Govan police station and, while there, police found ecstasy tablets in his boxers.
Mr Sheeran explained: “While in Govan police station, 14 pink tablets were recovered from the accused’s boxer shorts. These tested positive for ecstasy. A single pill can be purchased on average for around £5.”
Defence agent Mr McShane told the court at a previous hearing how the painter and decorator cares for his mum when he’s at liberty. He added: “He had been drinking heavily and taken some of the ecstasy tablets.
“An argument ensued and what Mr Siddiqi feels was a racist remark was said to him. Although he accepts this wasn’t made by the complainer.
“He understands his behaviour towards police officers was unacceptable and he wishes to apologise to the officers involved.”
Isla Sinclair, defence solicitor at the sentencing hearing, added that, “the contribution of alcohol has been a factor in this case and in his previous offending” and that Siddiqi “accepts and understands a custodial sentence is inevitable”.
Sheriff Brian Mohan said: “Your record is concerning; drugs, weapons and violence are predominant themes.
“That, alongside the circumstances of the matter, shows to me that you present a risk to anyone who crosses your path.
“You’ve allowed drink, drugs and violent behaviour to dominate your life. You’ve been realistic enough and been in courts enough to know that custody is appropriate here.”
Siddiqi, a prisoner of Low Moss jail in Bishopbriggs, East Dunbartonshire, was jailed for 20 months backdated to August 8.
In addition, once released from custody, the thug will be subject to a 10-month supervised release order.
