Law that's 200 years old could see £1,000 fine issued for car park change mistake

A 200-year-old law could still catch out motorists for simply asking another person for change in a car park. The law - under The Vagrancy Act 1824 - has become controversial in recent years, with critics claiming it criminalises the homeless.

Last month it was repealed in the House of Commons, but it may still be in place until 2024 before the final action is completed, WalesOnline reports. This means that motorists who find themselves short of change or with the incorrect coins in car parks should be aware of it.
