Law firm Osborne Clarke appoints new UK managing partner

Bristol-founded law firm Osborne Clarke has elected a new managing partner. Conrad Davies will take up the role on January 1 next year, the company announced on Wednesday (October 19).

Mr Davies, a corporate partner at the firm and the international head of the company's 'Urban Dynamics' group, will succeed Ray Berg, who is stepping down after eight years in the job.

Having spent more than 17 years at Osborne Clarke, Mr Davies became a partner in 2011. According to the business, he helped establish the company's corporate real estate practice 10 years ago and headed up its international real estate and infrastructure sector for seven years.

Osborne Clarke said Mr Davies was also "instrumental" in leading the team that established the firm's 2025 client strategy. Most recently, he was appointed as international transformation leader for 'Urban Dynamics' - a group focused on supporting clients as they navigate the legal impacts and business opportunities arising from the rapid changes taking place in modern cities and towns.

Osborne Clarke senior partner Peter Clough said: "It's been an incredible eight years under Ray's leadership. He's shown outstanding dedication and commitment to building the firm into what it is today.

"Huge congratulations to Conrad! He has also been one of our firm's great leaders and has been instrumental in helping to build our strategy. I know he will do an excellent job, and I and the team very much look forward to working with him."

Mr Davies, who spent five years in business before qualifying as a lawyer, added: "I am thrilled to be appointed as managing partner. They will be big shoes to fill, but I am up for the challenge and I look forward to building on all the good work that’s been done as I lead the firm for the next four years."

Osborne Clarke was first established as a Bristol law firm in 1748. It has since moved its headquarters to London, but still has UK offices in Bristol and Reading. The firm also operates a number of international offices.
