The French Federation of Football (FFF) has officially announced the appointment of Laurent Bonadei as the new head coach of the women’s national team until June 31, 2027. This decision comes after the mutual agreement to terminate Hervé Renard's contract following les Bleues' elimination from the home Olympics in Paris.
Philippe Diallo, the president of the FFF, emphasized the importance of having a coach familiar with the French team and women's football, leading to the selection of Bonadei, who brings a wealth of experience and high standards to the role.
With the Euro 2025 in Switzerland approaching, Diallo expressed confidence in Bonadei's ability to lead and develop women's football in France.
Laurent Bonadei, who previously served as Renard's assistant, expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and acknowledged the responsibility that comes with leading the national team. He aims to build on the foundation laid by Renard during their time together with the French Women's Team.
Bonadei's coaching experience primarily includes working with youth teams at PSG and Nice, as well as a stint as an assistant coach at USM Alger. This appointment marks his first experience as the head coach of a senior team.
His immediate focus will be on preparing the team for the upcoming international matches in October and the Euro tournament. The goal is to surpass the quarter-finals and potentially secure the first major title for the French women's team.
As Bonadei steps into this new role, the French football community eagerly anticipates his strategies and leadership to propel the women's national team to greater success.
