Laurence Llewelyn Bowen's daughter unveils stunning wedding dress dad helped design

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is as known for his flamboyant dress sense as he is for home interiors - so when the chance arose to help design his daughter's bridal gown he was in his element.

The TV personality, 56, was flooded with pride which his daughter Hermione, 24, announced her engagement to childhood sweetheart Drew Marriott.

And he rose to the task of designing her gown which he describe as 'very big, very flourishy and very us' with a hint of 'realness to it too'.

He told Hello! magazine the dress: ''I was very keen that Hermione should wear something elegant. She needed something architectural and youthful.

"I came up with a simple design - a white satin dress with a nipped-in waist, sweetheart neckline and a little white velvet cape with a (fake) fur trim.'

Fortunately Hermione was more than happy to let her father unleash his creativity on her gown saying she knew he would have her 'best interests at heart'.

And everyone agreed the bride looked incredible - almost Regal - wearing the white satin and structured gown with a sweetheart neckline - handmade in Cheltenham by Cocoa Couture.

The Changing Rooms host also designed his wife Jackie, and eldest daughter Cecile, 26, outfits for the eagerly anticipated occasion.

Like many couples, the nuptials had been dogged with delays due to Covid leaving Hermione herself questioning whether she would ever get married.

The TV presenter said he felt like he was in a film as he walked Hermione down the aisle, describing the setting as 'cosy' due to the runway of candles.

He added:''She was desperate to get to Drew, who was beaming from ear to ear.''

Hermione echoed her proud father's emotions adding there 'was so much love' especially the moment he removed her cape and delicately kissed her on the cheek.

Lawrence said the relief the wedding had finally gone ahead was palpable at the ceremony.

He concluded: ''I've never been to a wedding where the entire congregation was so close to clapping at every stage. It was a sense of, "Oh my God, we've got there - they've said, I will."

''There was a massive crowd when we came out of the church to walk down the lovely cobbled streets to Cirencester Park and everybody was clapping. It was such a powerful moment.''
