Laurence Fox slammed for homophobic video as he spends Father's Day trying but failing to burn Pride flags

Social media users have slammed Laurence Fox after he spent Father's Day attempting to burn Pride flags - but failing.

The ex actor, who shares two kids with former wife Billie Piper, is known for his outspoken antics on social media but didn't appear to achieve the effect he was aiming for when he pulled his bizarre stunt on Sunday.

Now the 45-year-old faces a huge backlash and is being mercilessly mocked for the footage he uploaded on to Twitter featuring him describing the flags as "child mutilation bunting" before covering them in lighter fluid and trying to set them on fire.

Laurence, part of the Fox family acting dynasty, then went along the row of colourful flags with his lighter fluid as he said "goodbye" but, unfortunately for him, any flames that appeared didn't come to much and soon went out.

Laurence, who launched political party The Reclaim Party in 2020, shared the video with the caption: "My friend brought me some child mutilation bunting. It got the treatment it deserved."

He was soon met with replies as Twitter users piled on to have their say. The rainbow flag, also known as the gay pride flag or pride flag, is a symbol of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) pride and LGBT movements. The colours are meant to reflect the diversity of the LGBT community as well as the spectrum of human sexuality and gender.

Dany H.GPT said: "Just casually discussing hate crimes. It's a shame you didn't burn down your garden," while Izzy said: "Wow scared of a flag." Sandra said: "You really are a sad man," while Ash Kapriyelov chimed in: "Aw, so cute. something for you to do for Father's Day since you can't see your kids. "

One social media user said: "You know, most people just see their kids on Fathers Day," while another said: "You want to be an MP? Our standards have dropped, and another added: "Setting your garden on fire to own the libs. Edgy!

Fox was banned temporarily from Twitter last year when he changed his profile picture to a swastika made out of four pride flags days after a gunman killed two people during the Oslo Pride festival.
