Love Island ’s Gemma Owen was left mortified after a comment made by host Laura Whitmore on Sunday’s reunion show.
The 19-year-old coupled up with Luca Bish and finished in second place on the ITV dating competition, losing out on the £50,000 prize to Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti. Gemma and Luca were asked about life after the Love Island villa during the reunion episode.
Luca revealed that he had spoken to Gemma’s dad, footballing legend Michael Owen, on FaceTime - although he was yet to meet him in person. Laura Whitmore followed up with a remark that repulsed Gemma, The Liverpool Echo reports.

“Was it like looking at yourself in the mirror in the future?” Laura asked Brighton fishmonger Luca of his chat with Michael. But Gemma insisted that she didn’t see a resemblance between her dad and her new beau.
"It actually makes me feel a little bit sick thinking about it as well,” Gemma added. Host Laura also stirred things up during the show by reminding Gemma of a comment she made on her first night in the villa.
A clip played of Gemma branding Luca’s surname Bish as “unfortunate” - but Gemma told Laura that the name had since grown on her. “If we got married it would definitely have to still be Gemma Owen-Bish,” she said.
Luca admitted that the pair had had a falling out during filming for the reunion episode on Thursday. As they were met by waiting photographers, one snapper quipped: "You've got your hands full there!" to which Luca replied: "Oh don't mate! She's got the right hump with me!”
But Gemma put any speculation about the pair calling it quits to bed after posting a photo of her and Luca on Instagram on Friday. “Reunion night with this one, It was so good to see everyone again!” she wrote.
