Latin Grammys 2024: Natalia Lafourcade beats Shakira as the Latin Music Female Artist With Most Wins

The 25th Annual Latin Grammy Awards brought unforgettable moments and intense competition. With three nominations, Shakira had the chance to tie with Natalia Lafourcade as the Latin music female star with more nods from the Latin Music Academy.

The Colombian singer-songwriter had 14 Latin Grammys, while her Mexican colleague had 17.

However, despite her efforts, Shakira fell short of achieving this milestone. Maybe she knew it was going to happen. Although she was in town, the Colombian artist didn't get near the multiple Latin Grammy events that took over Miami since last Friday.

During the award-giving ceremonies on November 14th, Lafourcade solidified her legacy, earning the title of the most-awarded Latina in Grammy history with 18 accolades to date. Her win for Best Pop/Rock Song of the Year with "5 Horas Menos", with Argentinian rocker Conociendo Rusia, added another milestone to her illustrious career.

Meanwhile, Shakira celebrated her victory in the Best Latin Electronic Music Performance category with her track 'Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53 (Tiësto Remix)', a collaboration with Bizarrap. This win brought the Colombian singer's total Latin Grammy count to 15, just three shy of Natalia's record.

The Night's Standout Performances

Although urban stars like Karol G and Bad Bunny garnered significant attention with their eight nominations each, the beloved Dominican singer and arranger Juan Luis Guerra emerged as the evening's biggest winner.

Known for his remarkable talent and dedication, Guerra walked away with four awards, including Record of the Year and Best Tropical Song for "Mambo 23," as well as Best Merengue/Bachata Album and Album of the Year for *Mambo Güira*.

Hot on his heels was Mexican composer Édgar Barrera, the most-nominated artist of the evening. Barrera earned recognition with wins for Best Regional Mexican Song, Composer of the Year, and Producer of the Year. Barrera is also the only Latino artist nominated in the main categories of the 2025 Grammy Awards.

Argentine singer Nathy Peluso also won three awards for her album Grasa, winning in the categories of Best Rap/Hip Hop Song, Best Alternative Song, and Best Long-Form Music Video. Overjoyed, Peluso expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you to myself for daring to go this far and for lifting me up from where I was."

The 25th Annual Latin Grammy Awards were filled with unforgettable moments. From jaw-dropping wins to moving performances like Carlos Vives' tribute as the *Person of the Year*, the evening left an indelible mark on attendees. Vives thanked the audience with a show that will remain etched in their memories and hearts.
