Latest College Football Playoff Rankings: Georgia Jumps Ohio State for Top Spot

The latest College Football Playoff rankings were released on Tuesday night and Georgia has taken the top overall spot away from Ohio State.

The top-ranked Bulldogs look like the most dominant team in the country after dismantling No. 13 Ole Miss 52-17 last week. The Buckeyes, who were were No. 1 over the first two rankings release, slipped down to second spot.

Meanwhile, Michigan holds onto the third spot after earning a hard fought 24-15 road win over No. 12 Penn State, with Florida State retaining the final playoff berth.

Washington remained No. 5 in the rankings despite beating both USC and No. 22 Utah over the last two weeks.

If the postseason were to commence today, No. 2 Ohio State would play against No. 3 Michigan in one semifinal game, while No. 1 Georgia would take on No. 4 Florida State in the other playoff game.

This year's semifinals will be take place at the Orange Bowl in Miami Gardens, Florida and Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on Jan. 1. 

The winners of each semifinal matchup will face off in the championship game at NRG Stadium in Houston on Jan. 8.

Future matchups among several of the top teams over the next several weeks will greatly impact the playoff landscape. 

College football fans are eagerly anticipating the Nov. 25 Big Ten showdown between No. 2 Ohio State and No. 3 Michigan as well as the SEC Championship game on Dec. 2 featuring No. 1 Georgia and No. 8 Alabama. 

The College Football Playoff rankings will be released every Tuesday until Sunday, Dec. 3, when the final playoff field will be officially announced.
