Cornerback continues to be a major area of focus for the Minnesota Vikings and Damian Parson of The Draft Network is the latest of many draft analysts to do so. In his latest mock draft, he has the Vikings select cornerback Cam Smith from South Carolina.
With the different coordinators that the Vikings have chosen to interview, they will need to upgrade the position. Parson thinks that can be Smith.
“The Vikings had a successful season under first-year head coach Kevin O’Connell, but their defense let them down all year—they were one of the worst units in the league. Inject Cam Smith into this secondary and thrive. Smith is a twitchy mover that plays with legitimate swag and toughness—all things the Vikings’ defense needs.”
Smith being a twitchy mover is a big deal for this defense. They could use his talent in both the slot and on the outside.
