Edinburgh is set to be hit with a temporary timetable from ScotRail due to a dispute between the railway service and Aslef union, causing a shortage of drivers.
The new timetable will come into force on Monday May 23 and will see the last trains from major cities and town heavily impacted.
The BBC reports there will be cuts to about 700 ScotRail services, which are expected to be 'devastating' for many passengers and businesses as many routes will see their last train depart before 8pm.
Similar cuts are expected to be announced for Saturday and Sunday services.

The operator say these cancellations are due to pay disputes and claim the temporary timetable gives customers 'predictable' expectations as they tackle the driver shortage.
ScotRail says it relies on drivers working overtime or on rest days, "like many other train operators across Britain", but a number of drivers are refusing to do so after the union rejected the 2.2 per cent pay deal.
ScotRail’s service delivery director David Simpson warns that the temporary timetable could be in place for weeks.
The last train from Edinburgh to Glasgow Queen street will leave at 10.15pm from next Monday, an hour and a half earlier that usual.
Edinburgh to North Berwick will see a deeper cut with the last service leaving three hours earlier at 7.40pm. Currently the last service runs at 11.14pm.
The last train from Aberdeen usually leaves at 9.31pm. It will now leave Edinburgh at 8.34pm.
And the last Edinburgh to Tweedbank service is now at 9.43pm rather than 11.43pm.
The temporary timetable covers Monday to Friday but ScotRail will be announcing a similar change to the weekend services.
David Simpson, ScotRail Service Delivery Director, said: "We are very sorry to customers for the disruption of recent days. We know what customers want more than anything is certainty and reliability, which is why we are introducing a temporary timetable.
"We want to resolve this dispute with the trade unions and move forward together to provide the safest, greenest, and most reliable railway we can for Scotland. We remain open to further talks with the trade unions.
"We're asking customers to check their journey on our website, mobile app, and through our social media channels as train times will have changed."
