Larne new boy Daniel Kearns on why he swapped Solitude Reds for Inver Reds

Larne new boy Daniel Kearns says a return to full-time football was a big factor behind his decision to swap Cliftonville for Inver Park.

Kearns, who spent 18 months at Solitude, helped the North Belfast club to a runners-up finish in the Danske Bank Premiership last season.

But the 30-year-old says the opportunity to sign a full-time contract with Larne was too good to turn down at this stage of his career.

“It was a big decision for me to come here, but I’m delighted to be back in full-time football,” said Kearns.

“The manager has explained what he wants from me and hopefully I can come here to add to the quality at the club.

“There is a great buzz around Larne with European football around the corner and everyone can’t wait to get going.”

Larne boss Tiernan Lynch believes Kearns, who also played for Linfield, Glenavon, Dundalk, Sligo Rovers, Limerick, Peterborough United and Carlisle, is a player of “proven quality”.

“The opportunity to come back to full-time football with us was a big thing for Daniel and we’re very pleased to have him here,” Lynch told the Larne website.

“He comes to the club with a lot of proven quality and he recently enjoyed a very good time at Cliftonville.”

Kearns is Larne’s fourth signing of the summer following the recent arrival of Ballymena United captain Leroy Millar, Cliftonville defender Aaron Donnelly and Partick Thistle midfielder Shea Gordon.

Five have parted company with the club, including Davy McDaid who signed a three-year deal with Ballymena United on Tuesday night.
