Lark Lane takeaway Woo Tan Scran is 'back' just weeks after closing

Woo Tan Scran is taking orders once again after closing its Lark Lane chip shop last month.

The beloved plant-based chippy announced its shock closure in September, telling fans on social media they weren't "sure what the future holds" but had made the difficult decision to shut up shop in a bid to save the takeaway. In a follow up post, the team branded the experience of running the restaurant "a rollercoaster of a three years".

Now, the Woo Tan Scran takeaway menu is up for grabs again, online, as the team have set up at city centre - and fellow vegan restaurant - favourite, Down The Hatch. Operating through "Deliveroo only for now", the restaurant delighted followers with the news it was "back" with a bang.

Sharing a text image which simply read, "we're back baby. Back from 5 bells", the restaurant penned: "We are back. @deliveroo only for now. Wish us luck. No idea how this is gonna pan out but we can't just sit and do nothing. The Man don't wanna help us so we have to help ourselves. It's Phenix season baby [black heart emoji] Woo Tan Forever."

The news delighted food lovers, who flocked to the comments section to share their thoughts. One fan said: "GO ON LADS".

Linda said: "this news just made my day". Laurie commented: "This is amazing!! Conquer Liverpool and then deliver to Manc too and my dream will be complete!!"

Stevie said: "Good luck guys foods amazing". Another fan said: "Best news!!" Heather commented: "Boss news", and Sasha added: "Welcome home boys".

Woo Tan Scran was set up by Jay Baker, Tim Leah, Conrad Sharp and Alex Woo back in 2019, after they spotted a gap in the market for a vegan Chinese takeaway. At the time of its launch, joint owner Alex revealed the idea for the restaurant came while having a pint, and the quartet realised they could be onto something special.

He added: "Three weeks later, we viewed the property, bid on it and two and a half months later, here we are. It's mad. With Bundobust and Mowgli, places are doing brilliant Indian vegan food, but no-one was doing Chinese so we knew there was a gap in the market for it."

Woo Tan Scran is available on Deliveroo.
