A man was taken to hospital after suffering serious injuries during an attack in Largs.
The incident happened in the popular North Ayrshire seaside town's Greenock Road area around 6.50pm on Sunday, May 28.
The 36-year-old victim was subsequently taken to the Inverclyde Royal Hospital in Greenock for treatment.
Last night, police appealed for the public's help in tracing the assailant who made off from the scene by heading north on Greenock Road.
He is described as white, around 6ft tall and of medium build. He has short dark hair and was wearing beige cargo shorts, a black T-shirt, a black gilet and dark Adidas trainers.
Police also say he was also accompanied by a white and brown Collie breed dog.
Detective Constable John Cuthbert said: “Our enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of this attack and we are appealing to anyone who may have been in this area at the time and may have witnessed this incident.
"I would urge anyone with information about this incident or the suspect to please contact police.”
