Hundreds of plants and equipment have been destroyed after yet another cannabis farm was found in Bridgend town centre. This comes just over a month after a huge cannabis factory was discovered in Aberkenfig.
Bridgend police made the latest discovery inside a property in Adare Street on Saturday, March 11. Around 800 plants were grown altogether.
Local Policing Inspector Gareth Newman said: “Officers gained entry to a property on Adare Street, Bridgend, following information received. The premises had been fully converted into a cannabis factory with every room being used to grow around 800 cannabis plants."

He added: “The electrics had been bypassed and the property was made safe by Western Power. The cannabis has been destroyed. An investigation is ongoing.
"Many people think it is ‘just a bit of cannabis’ but any production of drugs is linked to hidden harm. These large operations are often run by organised crime gangs who are likely to engage in very serious violence involving weapons. The electrical requirement to grow this many plants is also really dangerous and can be a huge fire risk, putting neighbouring properties, and lives, in danger.
"I would encourage people to please continue to report suspicious behaviour and suspected drug dealing in their neighbourhood to us, as the information helps us develop a bigger picture that leads us to take action and remove drugs from the streets."
In February, a cannabis factory was discovered in the former mattress shop in Aberkenfig, Bridgend. Police found more than 140 "mature" Class B plants after intelligence from a neighbourhood policing team. Photos from the raid showed a large room filled with plants which were being controlled by climbers made from bamboo cane and tied to the ceiling with lengths of string. The neighbourhood policing team described the quantity of cannabis as "large."
