Lane Kiffin’s beef with Tennessee may finally be behind him after he picked the Vols to beat Alabama

Lane Kiffin’s history with Tennessee is a complicated one.

Well, OK. Hold on. Maybe it’s not actually so complicated. The Vols really just don’t like the dude. And they’ve got good reason to. He literally left their program high and dry after one mediocre season before darting off to USC.

It was so bad students literally protested his final press conference before he left for California. They hated the dude. His whole recruiting class felt betrayed.

And so, ever since then, it’s been nothing but beef between Kiffin and Tennessee. Until now, apparently. At least for a moment, anyway.

Fast forward to today, Kiffin is at Ole Miss and has coached them to a 6-0 record. The Vols are undefeated, too. So everybody is in a good space. A great time to put the beef behind them.

Especially when they have a common enemy in Alabama.

Kiffin made it clear he was rooting for the Vols in a quick appearance on ESPN’s College GameDay. It was kind of shocking.

“If you think I don’t know Tennessee is playing Alabama, I mean, who doesn’t know that? I don’t know what else to say except, hey, let’s beat the state of Alabama today. Go Vols.”

And with those two words, the College GameDay crowd at Tennesse erupted in cheers. Lane Kiffin might finally be forgiven.

Fans were here for this. Mostly because it’s a perfect troll.
