Land to be leased to encroachers

R Ashoka Chikkamagaluru Hassan Kodagu Bengaluru Uttara Kannada

BENGALURU: Revenue minister R Ashoka said the government has decided to return 90,000 acres of encroached revenue land in Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru and Hassan to encroachers on a 30-year lease. The minister said a similar exercise will be carried out in Dakshina and Uttara Kannada districts as well.

Providing details of the encroachment, Ashoka said as much as 12,000 acres have been encroached in Kodagu, 30,000 acres in Hassan and another 40,000 acres in Chikkamagaluru.
