Lanarkshire wrestler ready for main event challenge in massive Glasgow show

A Lanarkshire wrestler who has found further fame as a TV actor is heading back to the ring.

Lee Greig, from Fernhill in Rutherglen, competes under the ring name of Jack Jester and has been a grappler for leading Scottish promotion Insane Championship Wrestling for a number of years.

Recently, he's been seen on TV screens as one of the stars of BBC Scotland sitcom The Scotts, but he's now set to headline the second night of ICW's two-night bash at the O2 Academy in Glasgow, Shug's House Party, on July 30.

He'll face the promotion's current champion Kez Evans in a bid to hold the championship for a second time.

Promoting the event, he said: "As a former champion, I know what it takes to climb to the top of the ladder.

"Kez Evans thinks the old Jack Jester is gone, but he never left. I'll be leaving that main event as World Heavyweight Champion."

Last year, Lee told Lanarkshire Live he had been surprised by his acting career taking off in The Scotts, the latest show from Burnistoun creators Robert Florence and Ian Connell.

He plays Darren, the boyfriend of Louise McCarthy's character, Colette.

Lee recalled: "I didn't chase acting as much as I should, although I always had people saying I should give it a go. I knew Rab, and he sent me the script and asked if I'd be interested in auditioning for it.

"So I went along and it was exactly like you always see in an audition on TV - just an empty room, the director and Rab and Ian. I'm used to the camera being on me when wrestling but this was so different, just a weird feeling."

The show has proved a hit, and he's not the only ICW wrestler who's enjoyed TV success.

Star of BBC Scotland's Two Doors Down, Grado, will team up with popular Tiktoker, Ravie Davie, to face Conservatives The Cabinet in a tag team match in one of the other showcase bouts at the event, while the main event of the first night sees BT Gunn face Leyton Buzzard in an anything goes King of Insanity Match.

The weekend also features a Ladder Match, Women's World Title Match, MMA fighter Chris Bungard in action and other matches.

Weekend and 1-day tickets are still available through Ticketmaster and Tickets Scotland.
