Three inspirational Lanarkshire ladies have been nominated for the Wishaw Press 'Say it With Flowers' award for their service to the community.
Marlyn Spence, Lisa Fairlie and Marlyn Aitken help run a vital service to the community as part of Shotts Salvation Army.
That sees them help parents and carers in their local community with a weekly toddlers group, after school club and many other activities.
Shotts resident Lorraine Cranston told Lanarkshire Live: “The ladies run the toddlers group on Thursday mornings giving parents and carers and children a fantastic opportunity for learning through play helping with social skills.
“They provide learning opportunities for both the child and parent or carer. It’s a great wee group and parents and children enjoy the time at the group and a lovely snack.
“The ladies organise many groups but I attend with my grandson Hudson on Thursday mornings and I wanted to nominate them.”
The toddlers group runs in Shotts Salvation Army hall on Thursdays from 9.30am to 11.30am and there is currently availability for parents wishing to join.
And when Lorraine told us about these exceptional women, we were delighted to help by surprising them with a stunning floral arrangement, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals.
She told us: “I’ve been attending for about a year with my wee grandson and they have done so much. They have various groups such as after school clubs and a youth group.
“It’s a great wee group and it’s the only one that runs in this area for the kids to mix with their peers and for the parents to mix as well and they were absolutely delighted to receive the flowers and really appreciated it,” added Lorraine.
