Local schools have been handed a hefty cash boost in a bid to close the poverty gap.
Schools in Rutherglen and Cambuslang were benefit from over £1.7m of funding through the Pupil Equity Fund from the Scottish Government.
Lanarkshire Live told last year how a number of schools had used PEF cash to go towards issues raised by pupils themselves.
Rutherglen High School students voted to fund health and wellbeing resources as well as Loch Primary.
Cathkin primary school spent seven per cent of the funding on curricular visits and Cathkin High School spent part of their funds on health and wellbeing resources and library resources.
Cairns Primary School pupils voted to spend funding on a family learning hub, Hallside Primary used 15 per cent of funding on outdoor resources and pupils from West Coats Primary chose to use their funding on extra-curricular resources.
Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey has welcomed the funding, and hopes that once again youngsters will have a say in how it is distributed.
She said: "Since 2015/16, the Scottish Government has invested £576 million in tackling the poverty related attainment gap through measures like the Pupil Equity Fund.
"This funding stream, which goes direct to headteachers for them to spend, is directed to support disadvantaged pupils and can be invested in various approaches, including extra learning and specialist support such as educational psychologists, home school link workers, mental health counsellors, and speech and language therapists.
"Local schools have also used innovative approaches to use PEF money to close the attainment gap.
"With teacher numbers the highest they have been since 2008, and the number of primary teachers the highest since 1980, our most disadvantaged pupils are getting the support they need to progress through their education."
In Rutherglen and Cambuslang schools, under the 2020/21 PEF allocation, £1,760,908 was provided.
A number of the schools will also have a considerable amount of cash to carry over into the next year, in addition to whoever much they have allocated to them.
These include Trinity High (£94,847), Stonelaw High (£63,852), Cathkin High (£49,090), Burgh Primary (£48,048) and Cairns Primary (£74,362).
