Lanarkshire's Museum of Rural Life launches autumn explorers fun

The whole family can enjoy autumn activities at the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride this half-term.

Supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, Autumn Explorers will run from Tuesday 18 – Friday 21 October.

Visitors to the museum, historic farmhouse and Wester Kittochside farmyard can celebrate the season with autumnal storytelling, biodiversity activities and a new outdoor trail.

Dan the Story Man will share tales of tails and horse folklore in honour of Anna, the museum’s very own Clydesdale horse.

Hands-on activities in the Biodiversity Hub will include creating cyanotype prints with foraged materials and folding origami seed-paper flowers to plant in your garden.

Families can also get outside to explore the new Bugs and Beasties Trail and experience the museum from a whole new perspective.

The support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery means that Autumn Explorers is free with Museum admission and the Museum’s Annual Pass.

Alison Whitehill from the museum told us : “We are delighted to offer family activities this half term, thanks to the generous support of players of People’s Postcode Lottery.

"We hope our young visitors will enjoy learning more about autumn on the farm and experiencing the beautiful countryside surrounding the National Museum of Rural Life.”

Laura Chow, of the People’s Postcode Lottery, added: “This half term is the perfect opportunity for families to get together and discover all autumn has to offer at the Museum.

"We are thrilled that players of People’s Postcode Lottery are supporting this programme of fun and engaging seasonal activities. Player support has enabled many such initiatives.

"To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised over £900m for thousands of good causes."
