Energy regulator Ofgem has this week issued a warning to Lanarkshire residents about scam emails which claim to be from them and ask for bank details so that customers can get a rebate on their energy bills.
Trading Standards Scotland has confirmed that Ofgem had previously warned that there are rising reports of text, email and phone scams impersonating energy firms.
In some cases, scammers say your energy supply has switched and ask for your payment details.
