Lanarkshire plant using leftover food waste to produce power for thousands of homes

A plant in Lanarkshire is helping the UK tackle the energy crisis by turning leftovers into gas and electricity.

Energen Biogas, a part of the Bio Capital Group, is set to keep 15,000 homes warm this winter by producing renewable energy from leftover seasonal food.

The Energen Biogas plant in Cumbernauld feeds environmentally friendly biomethane gas directly into the local grid and generates electricity to power local homes and businesses, as well as providing fuel for local vans and heavy goods vehicles.
