Lanarkshire musician looks ahead to headlining King Tut's as new single released

A Lanarkshire musician is looking to "storm the iTunes charts" with the release of his latest single this week.

Jamie Button from Hamilton is looking forward sharing his new track titled 'Whatever Happened to Adventure' which is out on Friday, April 1.

The singer has a big year ahead in the lead up to his debut album in September. That will be launched in a special headline show at the famed King Tut's Wah Wah Hut in Glasgow.

Jamie says he can't wait to perform at the iconic venue. He told Lanarkshire Live : "This is my fourth single and there'll be another one out before the album too.

"King Tut's will be the launch of the album which will be great. For every young musician since I grew up in South Lanarkshire, this is a dream come true to play at King Tut's and headline it so it's very exciting."

After growing up in Hamilton, Jamie later moved to Glasgow and eventually Dundee.

Since picking up an acoustic guitar at the age of 15, Jamie has been writing songs and performing constantly ever since.

His early musical years saw him play in bands in the Glasgow music scene, honing his craft and gaining valuable experience playing venues such as ABC1, King Tut's and the Barrowlands.

Since then, the musician has toured up and down the country, from the Isle of Skye to Liverpool's iconic Cavern Club.

Support slots with Catfish and the Bottlemen, The Fratellis, Mark Morris, John Power and Shed 7 - just to name a few - have ensured Jamie has shared the stage with some of Britain's finest musicians.

In 2019 the release of Jamie's debut solo single 'Afterglow', was well-received and kickstarted a successful first year.

The following year, the release of his acclaimed hit single Flashbang reached No.3 in the iTunes chart and caught the attention of reviewers and radio stations across the country.

Jamie's debut album 'Lost in Local Life' is set to be released in September this year.

He added: "I decided to go solo after different people in bands began doing things in life that didn't agree with the lifestyle of being in a band. I've always written all the songs and sang so I decided to go it alone.

"The music scene has finally burst into life again which is brilliant. It's going to be a busy time for me this year with the album coming out so a lot of time in the studio.

After growing up in Hamilton, Jamie later moved to Glasgow and eventually Dundee.

New track 'Whatever Happened to Adventure' is about remembering good times prior to the pandemic.

It covers how people would take having fun for granted before Covid hit the world in 2022.

Jamie explained: "It's about fun nights out that weren't even remotely possible during lockdown, and thinking how it might not happen again at that time."
