Lanarkshire MSP urges locals to 'take a chance on' drama group after enjoying fantastic production of Mamma Mia

A Lanarkshire MSP is saying thank you for the music after enjoying a wonderful Abba-themed show performed by a local group.

Local MSP for Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse Christina McKelvie attended the K-Otic Productions showing of Mamma Mia at St Mary’s for All in Hamilton earlier this week.

K-Otic Productions are a drama group for adults with learning difficulties or autism spectrum disorder that operates across North and South Lanarkshire.

It was a special evening of entertainment on Monday, July 25, as the group celebrated their 10th anniversary.

After starting out in July 2012, K-Otic Productions were based in East Kilbride before expanding out to Hamilton and Coatbridge.

All abilities are welcome with members of the group encouraged to participate at a pace that is comfortable to them.

After enjoying the show, Ms McKelvie has shown her appreciation for the group and is urging locals to get involved or go along to see a performance.

She told Lanarkshire Live : “It was a pleasure to watch the Super Trouper’s in K-Otic put on a show at St Mary’s for All Church.

"The cast were absolutely fantastic and as an ABBA fan it was great to hear all the hits.

“Being involved in drama groups is a great way to build up confidence, make new friends and gain enjoyment. Everyone involved in the show, including the audience, had a fantastic time and I would thoroughly urge anyone to Take a Chance on K-Otic.”

Commenting Alex Barr, co-ordinator at K-Otic said: “It was great to showcase Mamma Mia for the local MSP Christina McKelvie and at the end of a great day we raised £155 from tickets, raffles and programmes made by our own Alistair.

“As we celebrate out 10-year anniversary there has never been a better time to get involved!
