A Lanarkshire MP is highlighting the work done by Marie Curie in South Lanarkshire.
East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow representative, Lisa Cameron, recently met with representatives from the leading cancer charity.
That lead to her endorsing the great work they are doing and supporting their fundraising efforts.
In the last calendar year, there were 48 Marie Curie nurses working in NHS Lanarkshire at a time where there was a 41 per cent increase in deaths at home due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And in the health board area 94 per cent of patients are supported by Marie Curie to die in their place of choice.
Meanwhile, in 2020/2021 the excellent work they do in Lanarkshire was supplemented by 106 volunteers, selflessly helping Marie Curie undertake 1894 visits in South Lanarkshire carried out by the nursing team.
Ms Cameron recently met with Angela McCormack, a community fundraiser for Lanarkshire to hear of their fundraising and forthcoming events raising more funds to enable them to carry out their great work.
She also provided Angela with a number of fundraising donations with signed autographs from various Celtic, Rangers, Scotland and music stars.
The MP said: “I was so very pleased to meet with Angela McCormack and support Marie Curie by donating fundraising auction items.
"In 2020/21, Marie Curie supported 9038 people who have a diagnosis of terminal illness.
"I will all I can to continue to support and engage with Angela and the charity in a regular basis in future, and continue to support the excellent work they do across South Lanarkshire”
