Lanarkshire housebuilders raise tee-rific sum of cash for sick kids at charity golf day

A Lanarkshire housebuilder swung into the charity spirit, raising thousands of pounds for sick children.

The tee-rific effort saw Bellshill -based firm Lovell donate a fantastic £6500 to The Donna Miller Foundation, part of the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

The annual event sees the developers entertain a number of their contractors who travel par and wide for the event at Drumpellier Golf Course in Coatbridge.

All attending were putting their skills on the fairways to the test - and all fore a good cause.

But it was the vital funds needed to help support youngsters in hospital that proved to be the main driving force on the day.

Sean Gilhoolie from The Donna Miller Foundation attended the cheque presentation at Lovell's head office yesterday as the funds were handed over to the charity.

He was met by Lovell's regional managing director Kevin McColgan.

Kevin told Lanarkshire Live : "Our annual Lovell Golf Day took place with 20 of our sub-contractors at Drumpellier Golf Course and was organised by our assistant buyer Lee-Ann.

"It was a fab day to interact with our trades and Dougal Baillie Associates were the ones who came out as champions for 2021.

"We look forward to holding our golf day again this year in August."

Ambassador of The Donna Miller Foundation Sean said: "We were overwhelmed with this donation.

"It's such a fantastic amount, especially at a difficult time for everyone through COVID."

An associate at Designer Contracts attended the event and added: "We thoroughly enjoyed our day and appreciate all hard work that clearly went into it!"

Also at the charity gold day was O’Byrne Tiling.

Their representative told us: "Lovell Golf day was an exceptionally well organised event, with both the game, course and businesses interlinking."

Lovell will soon be commencing their much-anticipated housing project in Hamilton at the site of the former Philips Lighting factory in the Hillhouse area of the town.

The development is set to feature 164 properties with a range of private and social housing.

The Donna Miller Foundation is part of Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity and was set up in memory of a young mother who sadly passed away from a brain tumour in 2012.

On receiving their cheque, they posted on social media: "This afternoon Kevin and Lee Ann from Lovell Homes presented our Ambassador Sean with an amazing £6500 cheque raised from their charity golf tournament 2021.

"Huge thanks from everyone at The Donna Miller Foundation and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity."
