A Lanarkshire man was jailed for eight years yesterday for attempting to murder his brother-in-law in a car attack after a row.
Scott Wilson accelerated towards Anthony Brown in the vehicle and mounted a pavement before hitting the victim in the life-threatening attack.
A judge at the High Court in Edinburgh told the 64-year-old that he had used a potentially deadly weapon in the murder bid. Lord Lake said: "The matter appears to have arisen out of a completely exaggerated response to an argument you had with your brother-in-law."

The judge said that he took into account that Wilson's "cognitive processes" were impaired by an accident he had suffered some time ago.
He told Wilson: "You do not have any history of violence and that is certainly a mitigating factor."
But he added that Wilson had not accepted his guilt and had not shown any remorse following the car attack on June 21 2020 at Castlefern Road, Rutherglen.
Wilson, of Rutherglen, had denied the murder bid during an earlier trial and maintained it was an accident.
But he was convicted of attempting to murder Mr Brown after striking him on the body in the car attack to his severe injury and the danger of his life. He was also convicted of breaching a bail condition.
Defence solicitor advocate Raymon McIlwham said that Wilson had a limited record of previous offending.
He said: "It is unusual that someone his age comes before this court having been convicted of such a significant violent offence."
