A Lanarkshire DJ has raised over £3000 for the National Autistic Society (NAS) by hosting an all-day live music event.
Paul Wilson took to the decks at the Castle Rooms in Uddingston for the eight-hour long 'Mojo Talking' gig as a means of giving back to the charity that holds a special place in his heart, after his own son was diagnosed as autistic.
The event also saw a host of other DJ's - including Paul Molloy, Peter Edmont, Stuart Catling, Billy Stewart, Robbie McKelvey, Gary Love, Bob Todd and Tom Jenkins - perform sets and saw revellers dance the day away to MOD classics, Northern Soul, 60s beat, ryhthm and blues, SKA and 60s soul tunes.
Party-goers also enjoyed vintage clothes and record stalls as well as a raffle and scooter ride-out.
Paul told Lanarkshire Live : "I have a 10-year-old autistic son and feel that like lots of other charities NAS has been hit very hard over the last few years with fundraising events being cancelled due to the pandemic.
"The charity do a great job of spreading awareness and supporting families of autistic children and indeed adults and they really have helped us a family and are close to my heart now.
"I was really overwhelmed with the reponse to the charity day and thankful to everyone who supported the event.
"I'd like to also thank the various DJ’s from across Scotland, England and Ireland who gave their time for free to DJ for this wonderful charity.
"Thanks also for the support from MOD promoters from all over, the record labels and clothing retailers from England who supplied goods for raffles on the day as well as the local Bothwell and Uddingston businesses who donated raffles, to Caroline McDaid for taking the fabulous photographs, Davie Broon who co-ordinated the Scooter ride-out and the Castle Rooms for the venue.
"Our last count was just over £3000 for NAS with monies still rising and we are absolutely delighted to be able to hand over an amazing sum of cash to the charity."
