Lanarkshire distiller partners with hotel giant Radisson to create bespoke gins

A Lanarkshire gin distiller has teamed up with hotel giant Radisson to create bespoke tipples.

The project between Strathaven-based Inspirited Gin and the hospitality heavyweight has been more than a year in the making.

Now Inspirited have launched two bespoke gins which are being served in bars of Radisson hotels across the UK.

Pierre is the hotel's brand new house gin - designed as a 'first pour' - and is inspired by French explorer Pierre Esprit Radisson who was the namesake of the very first Radisson Hotel.

While the Strathaven distiller, who launched in 2019 and picked up three gongs at the World Gin awards last year, also created Edna as a premium gin.

To celebrate Inspirited teaming up with Radisson, they are offering one lucky winner the chance to create their very own bottle of bespoke gin worth £50.

Head distiller Lawrence Nicholson said the whole team are delighted by this latest partnership, which opens an array of options for the award-winning company.

"The launching of these gins has been a year and a half in the making - without a doubt it's a very big project - one of our biggest yet - and a very exciting one," he told Lanarkshire Live.

"We worked in partnership with the hotel chain's head of bars and restaurants in Europe to create a house gin, effectively a 'first pour' and a premium offering with more complex flavours.

"We are really proud of what we have achieved. There were a lot of cogs in the process and we had to make sure they all aligned - from hundreds of flavour samples, label designs created through an in-house competition run by Radisson themselves, shipping cases and making sure everything worked with the optics in their bars and restaurants.

"But the feedback we have had from the hotels has been great and the gins have been exceptionally well-received."

And with the success of the Radisson project and lockdown lifting there are exciting times ahead.

"Contract distilling is really taking off, which is making products for other people. We already work with the likes of Michelin star restaurants in London and have worked with Shoogle Gin who began in nearby Stonehouse.

"But working with Radisson is certainly the beginning of a journey moving into different style of supplying and working with bigger bar, hotel and restaurant chains - after achieving what we have achieved with Radisson, there is nothing stopping us."

The ethos of Inspirited centres around allowing anyone to create their own gin - and giving total control to the client.

"There is such a spectrum of flavours out there, there really is a gin for everyone - and who knows your own palette better than you," Lawrence added.

"We very much believe our success in contract distilling is the control, flexibility and creativity back to people.

"They have a lot of control that is not available with some of the big companies out there and while minimum production runs can be two or three hundred bottles with them, our minimum runs is six bottles - so it's far more cost effective."
