A Wishaw childminder and the kids she looked after braved awful weather conditions during a charity climb.
Linda Condie had been in training to climb Tinto Hill for the Les Hoey MBE DreamMaker Foundation and along with daughters, nine-year-old Eryn and Ellie, 14, some of Linda’s childminding children came along in a bid to reach the top.
And despite some terrible weather on the way to the top, Linda and her team managed to make their way to the top.
Linda told Lanarkshire Live : “The climb itself was grim, there’s no other way to describe it.
“It was blowing a gale and it was pouring with rain.
“There was a doubt that we would actually get to the top. When we eventually got up there there was no waiting around and enjoying the views because there was none.
“We didn’t even stop for a sandwich and a drink, we just went up and straight back down.”
Thanks to their efforts, Linda and her team raised a whopping £805 for the DreamMaker Foundation.
And Linda was able to present DreamMaker co-ordinator Angela Cook with a bumper cheque at the charity’s Wishaw base.
The money will help the charity make kids with life-limiting illnesses make their dreams come true.
Linda added: “We were over the moon to raise such a huge amount, my original target was only £300.
“Les and the team do such an amazing job, I don’t know how he manages it.
“He must be working 24 hours a day.”
DreamMaker co-ordinator Angela Cook said: “We are overwhelmed by the total Linda and the kids raised especially with the weather they had for their climb.
“We have lots coming up for our wee DreamMakers and this donation will allow us to do so much.”
