A Lanarkshire butcher winged its way home from a top industry awards ceremony with a meaty triple golden success.
Fergusons of Airdrie scooped the highest honour for its delicious chicken tikka wellington, Balmoral wellington and pepper pattie products at the Scottish Craft Butchers Awards.
As well as the three gold prizes, the Buchanan Street business also secured silver from judges for its chicken tikka calzone in the awards' evaluation for naked steak and gourmet pastry products.
Scott Johnston of Fergusons told Lanarkshire Live : "I was absolutely delighted to be presented with the awards at the regional meeting in Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew.
"It's a testament to the whole Fergusons team and we wish to congratulate them for all of their hard work.
"There were 60 entries in the naked steak category and 99 in the gourmet pastry category so the competition was fierce, and of very high quality."
Tom Courts, president of the Scottish Craft Butchers, said: "We run these evaluations not just to award excellence but to underline the diverse product range that Scottish Craft Butchers offer.
"Local butchers are the specialists in our field and with customers becoming more adventurous with their tastes, they are always seeking out the assurance of provenance that shopping at a specialist provides.”
The gourmet pastry evaluation was sponsored by Scotweigh Ltd and company director Ian McVicar said “Scotweigh have a fantastic association with Scottish Craft Butchers' members.
"We are always delighted to have the chance to help recognise their incredibly diverse talent in coming up with new innovative ideas such as those in the gourmet pastry category.
"Local craft butchers always strive to excel and have raised the bar once again."
