Lanarkshire brother gives emotional tribute to 'adored' young dad after sudden death

A Lanarkshire man has paid an emotional tribute to his "adored" brother following his sudden death.

Dad-of-three Iain Lennox, from Newmains, tragically passed away at the age of 42 earlier this month. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Iain’s older brother Martin has described the young dad a someone "you could always depend on", the Wishaw Press reports.

He said: “It’s hard to believe he’s not here, he was so well liked and his family and friends adored him. He was the life and soul of any party. You couldn’t shut him up.

“He worked on the rigs in the North Sea and was always telling me of some of the practical jokes he would be playing while he was there.

“He was well thought of by his work mates and when he was home he loved being with his partner Lesleyanne, his young kids Cooper and Jaxon and his older son Ryan.”

Raised in Newmains with brothers Raymond, Martin and John as well sisters Jackie, Lynne and Laura, Iain spent 10 years working in Leeds before returning home to live, as well as working off-shore.

He had been living in Shotts for several years with Lesleyanne and their boys.

Martin added: “He had been working on the rigs for 16 or 17 years so he’s got friends the length of the country. We are hoping to have his funeral on a Saturday so as many of his friends can travel up as they can.

“When he was home there wouldn’t be anyone he would walk past without stopping and having a blether to them, he was that kind of a guy.

“The best thing I can say about Iain was that you could depend on him. If you asked him to dig a 100ft hole for you he would do it.

“He was very hands-on and he didn’t let you down.”

A JustGiving page to help with funeral expenses has been set up in Iain’s memory with over £3,000 being raised so far.

Page creator Chris Metcalfe, who worked with Iain on the rigs, posted: “We would like to raise money to take some of the pressure away from his family at this sad time to go towards Iain’s funeral costs and his young children’s future.

“For those that personally knew Iain we know he had a good caring heart and has often taken part in fundraising for charities and put others before himself.

“Iain will be missed by all of his family and many friends. Any donations big or small would be much appreciated.

“All money raised will be directly passed on to Iain’s family. RIP Lenny.”
