An East Kilbride Boys' Brigade company is inviting members of the community to share their memories of a much-loved captain who passed away suddenly at the weekend.
Tributes poured in for 7th EK captain Ian Harrow who sadly died on his 63rd birthday on Saturday in his St Leonards home due to breathing difficulties.
The community stalwart was also a former Conservative councillor - representing the East Kilbride West ward from 2017-2022 - and an active member of Claremont Parish Church.
And the BB company are opening their doors tonight (Thursday) at the church for those who knew Ian to share their memories.
The group posted: "After the sad news of Ian Harrow's passing and the sadness and grief that so many are feeling. We have decided to open the church on Thursday from 7pm for a coffee and a chat.
"It will be to talk about what he meant to each and everyone of us and how he touched our lives. This will be open to everybody and anybody that is struggling to deal with his death.
"This is not a service of any kind, just a chance to get together and maybe comfort each other and talk about his life, his work or how good he was at planning and not just a sorrowful event but also our many laughs with and at our friend Ian.
"This invitation is for officers, boys and parents and any of his family or friends from the church and elsewhere."
Paying tribute to Ian they said: "Ian has been instrumental in the success of the Boys' Brigade in East Kilbride and especially the 7th company.
"Ian has supported many boys through their growth in the Boys' Brigade including many getting presidents badges and Queens' badges. He will be a massive loss to us all."
Tributes were also paid to the former Hutchesons’ Grammar School teacher by fellow politicians and the school's rector.
