Lanarkshire band ready to give it all as they prepare to play legendary festival

A Wishaw rocker has said he is excited to take to the stage of one of Scotland's most renowned rock and roll festivals.

Scott Aitken, 27, is the frontman of rock band Ivory Saints who are booked to play the legendary Bonfest, despite only making their debut six months ago.

Bonfest is a rock festival held in Kirriemuir and is in memory of original AC/DC singer Bon Scott, who is from the area.

Thousands of AC/DC fans descend on the burgh each year in memory of the frontman and bands are invited to play at the festival.

For Scott, being invited to play is a huge honour and a huge next step for the band.

He told Lanarkshire Live: "We have only played around six shows so far so to have this opportunity is unbelievable.

"Bonfest is a huge international rock festival and there are such huge bands on the lineup. To be touching shoulders with these bands being a wee guy from Wishaw is phenomenal.

"We make rock and roll music with a mix of both old and new influences. We want to appeal to all rock and roll fans and not just a certain age."

In the band's journey so far they have landed a regular spot in Paisley as well as played other gigs across Glasgow.

TIpped by many to be the "next big thing", Scott and Ivory Saints don't plan on slowing down any time soon.

He said: "We have played a few gigs at The Keg in Paisley they have all been crazy.

"The second time we played there, the bar staff said to us it was the hardest shift ever as so many people had come along to see us.

"When you are a band starting out that is exactly what you want to hear. The owner had also posted on Facebook saying people should get down to see us before we "get massive."

"The support has been overwhelming and we hope we can show people at Bonfest what we are made of."

Bonfest is held on the last weekend of April. Information and tickets are available here.
