Lana Del Rey fans furious as Glastonbury set cut short after singer appeared late

Lana Del Rey fans were left disappointed after her Glastonbury set on Saturday evening was cut short.

The American singer headlined The Other Stage at the Worthy Farm festival, and was due to begin her performance at 10.30pm. However, it was past 11pm before she appeared, with her hair and makeup still being done as she sung.

Due to her late start, the Summertime Sadness singer found her microphone cut off thanks to Glastonbury's strict ban on performances on that stage past midnight. The video footage of the stage was also cut off, much to the anger of fans, the Mirror reports.

This abrupt end to the show left festival goers fuming, and loud boos erupted from the crowd when it became clear that Lana wouldn't continue to perform.

One angry fan told the Mirror: “It was beyond a joke. She had a headline set and ruined it by being late. I’m gutted we didn’t get to hear her full setlist.”

Instead of leaving fans in the lurch, Lana began a spontaneous sing-along to her hit song Video Games and even went to greet fans at the front of the crowd.

Fans watching coverage from home took to Twitter to express their anger at the star getting cut off early.

One fan fumed: “Not seen anything like that before. Plug pulled on #lanadelrey for overrunning curfew and she gets the crowd to do Video Games.”

Another grumbled: “Can’t believe they cut Lana Del Rey sound @glastonbury before finishing set, best Glasto performance I’ve seen for years. Insanity.”

And another raged: “Lana gracefully went down the stage, barefooted, and embraced the crowds after Glastonbury CUT off her set at midnight. You robbed Venice B*tch, Diet Mt Dew, Summertime Sadness, Ocean Blvd, & Video Games from us. We won't forget, we won’t.”

Earlier in the evening, die-hard Lana fans were threatening to leave the crowd when the singer was late to appear. And others feared she wouldn't turn up at all.

Back in March, there was a backlash when the Glastonbury line-up was announced and revealed there were no female performers headlining the main stage. Lana hit out at the festival at the time as her own headline slot on The Other Stage didn't get a big promotion.

She tweeted at the time: “Well, I’m actually headlining the 2nd stage. But since there was no consideration for announcing that we’ll see” – leading many to fear she would boycott the event as a result."
