Charlotte Hornets guard LaMelo Ball is headed to the 2022 NBA All-Star game as an injury replacement, the league announced Monday.
Ball will take Kevin Durant’s spot in the game as the Brooklyn Nets star is out with a sprained MCL.
The second-year guard has quickly become a star in the NBA. Ball is averaging 19.6 points, 7.5 assists and 7.1 rebounds while shooting 42.5% overall and 36% from 3-point range.
Ball will also be playing in the Rising Stars mini-tournament, which will take place two days before the main event. Ball will be representing Team Gary Payton in the contest, so it is shaping to be an eventful weekend for the Hornets star.
