The Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson had an eventful day on Thursday, starting with the quarterback signing a five-year contract to remain in Baltimore after a months-long impasse between the two sides.
By the time the 2023 NFL draft began Thursday night, Jackson was excited for the Ravens’ first-round pick at No. 22: Boston College wide receiver Zay Flowers. The ACC star is the first wideout from Boston College ever drafted in the first round.
Right before the Ravens’ pick was official, Jackson tweeted a hint to fans by saying “I’m smelling More good news dropping soon,” with a bunch of eye emojis and a SpongeBob SquarePants gif.
Just one minute later, the pick went live and Jackson updated fans with a laughing emoji and wrote, “Well it happened.”
Well it happened 🤣

It sounds as if Jackson is thrilled to have another skilled wide receiver join the roster. The Ravens also signed wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. earlier this month.
In his senior season in 2022, Flowers recorded 78 receptions for 1,077 yards and 12 touchdowns.
