Lamar Jackson on Derrick Henry: ‘he did what kings do’

It may have taken until week three to get here, but the full Derrick Henry experience has arrived. “The King” rushed 25 times for 151 yards, and two touchdowns in the 28-25 win at the Dallas Cowboys.

“He showed off,” said quarterback Lamar Jackson. “He did what kings do.”

Henry added one reception, for 23 yards to boot. After rushing for 46 yards in the season opener, 84 yards last week and 151 today, he now has 281 on the year, or 93.7 ypg.

His stellar performance today saw him surpass Earl Campbell for 8th place on the list of career 150+ rushing yard games, with 14.

He got there by averaging 6.0 yards per carry, basically matching the team’s output of 6.1 yards per rush (for a total of 274 yards). All of these stats convey how much better the offensive line did today with run blocking.

A position group that has largely been on under fire this season, thus far, really showed their critics something on Sunday. And for Henry, he lived up to the hype that accompanied his signing this offseason.
