The Seattle Seahawks aren’t the only team with a current question mark at quarterback for 2023. The Baltimore Ravens are embroiled in ongoing drama with their franchise signal caller as well.
The relationship between the Ravens and quarterback Lamar Jackson has been rather contentious, and could be headed towards a divorce. Jackson and Baltimore have been at odds over a contract extension for months now, and is a suspected reason why Jackson never returned after injury this season due to a lack of financial security.
If recent reports are to believed, the drama will likely continue a bit longer as Jackson and the Ravens are nearly $100 million apart from each other in negotiations.
Lamar Jackson’s counteroffers to the Ravens have frequently been speculated, but this is the first report I’m aware of that clearly states he countered for more fully guaranteed money than Deshaun Watson. https://t.co/cINE6gxUOB pic.twitter.com/sseFvl3Xwk

If Jackson is asking around the ballpark of $230 million guaranteed, much more than the $133 million in guarantees Baltimore offered him, then it seems hard to envision a scenario of these two sides coming to terms. Especially since Jackson can certainly argue he is more deserving of such a contract over Deshaun Watson, who was accused of sexual misconduct by countless Houston women.
If Baltimore takes a page out of Seattle’s book, who dealt their franchise quarterback last offseason, could the Seahawks possibly be interested in Jackson? There’s no doubt Jackson’s style would fit well into Pete Carroll’s philosophy of establishing the run. However, it seems hard to envision Seattle jumping right back into a major quarterback contract, especially for a player who is developing a serious injury concern.
