Lakers are reportedly interested in Bradley Beal

With a 2-9 record, the Los Angeles Lakers seem to be in deep trouble, at least for the time being.

Their roster may not look too bad on paper, but as the old saying goes, paper doesn’t play games. Even if the team starts improving in the coming weeks, it still wouldn’t be a championship contender.

As long as LeBron James and Anthony Davis are members of the Lakers and playing at a high level, making the playoffs won’t be enough; they need to compete for world titles.

As the team starts to apparently prepare for its best strategy to improve via the trade market, NBA insider Chris Haynes says L.A. is interested in trading for Bradley Beal.

Via Bleacher Report:

“A star player whom the Lakers are known to covet is Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal, sources say. Going after the 10-year veteran would only be an option if Beal were to request a trade, a tactic he has been reluctant to exercise.”

Many feel the Lakers have no offensive options outside of James, Davis and Russell Westbrook. Beal is a more potent scorer than Westbrook, and he would also give the Lakers a secondary ball-handler and facilitator.

The 6-foot-4 guard is averaging 21.6 points on 51.7 percent shooting and 5.7 assists a game so far this season.
