Peep Show star Lady Sophie Winkleman has praised the royal family's 'uncomplaining bravery' following the release of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's documentary.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hit headlines after their Netflix docuseries, Harry & Meghan, revealed fragments of their lives as well as their time with the royal family.
While many enjoyed the series, some – including Piers Morgan – condemned their decision to share their side of the story.
Lady Sophie, who is married to the Duke of Kent's son Lord Frederick Windsor, wrote a Christmas column about how she 'cherishes' her 'growing closeness' with senior members of the royal family.
Writing in the Spectator, she explained: "We'll see my parents on Christmas Day and some of my husband Freddie's relations in various locations.
"I cherish my growing closeness to the senior members of the royal family who are so hardworking, uncomplaining and brave in the face of relentless and brutal media attention, criticism, lies, undermining and fictional TV programmes – and always so good to me that I'm honoured to know them."
Lady Sophie didn't specify what criticism she is writing about, but it comes after the release of Harry & Meghan as well as the latest series of The Crown.
The actress tied the knot with Lord Frederick in 2009 and has been close to the family ever since.
In the docuseries, Meghan and Harry opened up about her miscarriage, her suicidal thoughts, their relationship with their families and more.
Harry admitted he was "devastated" at not being able to protect his wife while she was having suicidal thoughts.
"I knew that she was struggling, we were both struggling. But I never thought it would get to that stage," he says in episode four.
"And the fact that it got to that stage I felt angry and ashamed. I didn't deal with it particularly well. I dealt with it as institutional Harry, not husband Harry.

"What took over my feelings was my royal role. I'd been trained to think what will people say if we don't go to this event, if we're late.
"And looking back on it now I hate myself for it. What she needed from me was so much more than I could give."
He also says that everyone expected Meghan to "deal with" her mental health struggles like other royals had in the past.
"They knew how bad that was," he explained. "They thought 'why couldn't she just deal with it. Everyone else has dealt with it, why can't they deal with it'.
"This was really different. If you strip all that away and say it was exactly the same, do we still believe she should have sucked it up like other members of the family? Does one think it's maybe time we stop?"
The royal family have not publicly commented on the couple's documentary.
