Lady Gaga was the star of House of Gucci and now she's revealed what got her through the long filming schedule.
The singer-turned actress, 35, played Patrizia Reggiani, wife of Maurizio Gucci in the blockbuster, which she's widely tipped to bag an Oscar nomination for.
In a scene-stealing performance the pint-sized star gives as good as she gets from heavyweight actors including Al Pacino and the fabulous Jared Leto.
Speaking to host Jimmy Fallon, 54, on Jimmy Fallon Live about her secret weapon during filming she said: “Think 24 espressos in one day — one every hour.
"And I ate my way through the set.
"The pizza was so good.”
The Bad Romance hitmaker looked stunning on the show wearing a tiny navy dress trimmed with feathers.
Lady Gaga had to dig deep to play Patrizia, who hired a hitman to kill her ex-husband, played by Adam Driver, who was the heir to the Gucci empire.
Instead of meeting with the convicted murderer, who was released from jail in 2014, the star said she drew on her own history of abuse to access the emotion needed for the demanding role.
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, said: “There are a lot of things I’ve been through in my life, traumatic experiences, that I drew upon to play Patrizia.”
The 'black widow' paid £250,000, saved from the monthly allowance Maurizio gave her after their acrimonious divorce, to have her husband killed.
“If it’s the last thing I do, I want to see him dead,” she reportedly once told a housekeeper.
Patrizia was arrested two years later and her five-month trial, which she attended dressed head-to-toe in Gucci, caused a global sensation.
Lady Gaga's performance has been a huge hit with fans with many applauding the star for taking on such a demanding role.
However one person disagreeing with Gaga's 'leading lady' status is Piers Morgan.
The controversial broadcaster claimed House of Gucci was so awful he had to walk out of the cinema.
Piers had gone to see the Ridley Scott film with his wife Celia Walden, but wrote on Twitter : "Walked out of this movie tonight after 80 minutes.
"It's jaw-droppingly dreadful."
Reemphasising his point he added: "House of Gucci was so bad we left half-way through."
