Lady Gaga hailed Fairy Godmother of Hollywood as she helps SZA to the stage on crutches

Lady Gaga has been hailed the Fairy Godmother of Hollywood as she stepped in to assist SZA to the stage on crutches as she stepped up to accept her Grammy win with Doja Cat.

The music queen and actor was presenting the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance award, when she jumped in to action to prevent SZA getting stuck on her long train of her tulle Jean Paul Gaultier.

The sweet gesture was applauded by event-goers and fans back home as the moment immediately sparked a Twitter outpouring as fans praised her for assisting the singer on stage.

And her kindness at Sunday night's event was also more credible as she herself missed out on the very award for which SZA and Doja Cat secured a win.

One posted on Twitter: "Lady Gaga holding SZA’s dress. That’s the tweet. #grammys "

Another penned: "lady gaga fixing sza’s dress while she goes to accept her award was so sweet."

A third posted: "Lady Gaga is starting to be the Fairy Godmother of Hollywood."

Another chimed in: "lady gaga and sza absolute queens.''

SZA and Doja Cat took to the stage to collect their award for Kiss Me More and Doja Cat nearly missed her moment in the spotlight altogether after a poorly timed bathroom break.

SZA said: "Thank you Doja, thank you to my mama. Thank you to God. I'm glad you made it back in time, Doja!"

She also broke down in tears as she told fans to "be safe" and "take care".
She added: "Damn! I like to downplay s***. But this? It’s a big deal and damn, thank you everybody. Be safe. Take care."

And it's not the first time Lady Gaga graciously stepped up at awards in unscheduled moments of compassion.

She was also present on stage at the Oscars and whispered a "I got you' to a frail 76-year-old Liza Minnelli.

Last year she assisted retired collaborator and friend Tony Bennett in their concert, and at Sunday night's Grammy's she paid tribute to her mentor and friend who appeared on a screen in a pre-recorded message.

The singer, who donned a stunning satin strapless Tiffany blue dress, energetic performance of "Love for Sale", for which she won Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album, from her Grammy-nominated collaborative album with Bennett of the same name.

She ended her performance on a heartfelt note, saying, "I love you, Tony, we miss you."

Over her career, Gaga has earned 12 Grammys and 30-plus nominations, but this year’s nominations appeared to have more meaningful to her due to Bennet's Alzheimer's diagnosis.
