Lad, 10, heartbroken as £150 drone he got for Christmas vanishes on first flight

A 10-year-old boy has been left heartbroken after his Christmas present - a £150 drone - flew off and vanished on its maiden flight.

Kian Whitcombe decided to try out his new and expensive toy on his own without checking with his parents first.

The lightweight device with a built in camera then flew out of sight and lost GPS signal on Monday, January 9, vanishing into thin air at close to his home in Eynesbury in St Neots, Cambs.

The community has since rallied around young Kian Whitcombe to try and reunite him with his Holy Stone drone.

Kian's mum Claire posted on a local Facebook group with a plea for anyone who finds a drone to get in touch.

She wrote: "Please if anyone has spotted a drone that has landed could you let me know?

"My son has stupidly flown his Christmas present without asking and it has lost its GPS."

She said: "Unfortunately kids don't listen when you say not to use something.

"We drove around but it's like a needle in a haystack and with the rain that fell I'm not sure it would be any good now."

The community has since kept their eyes peeled for the drone which according to one resident was seen flying over a pub that afternoon.

One recommended using the 'find my aircraft' setting on the device while another shared the plea other local Facebook groups in the area.

Despite the efforts, the drone is yet to be found.
