Lack of matches keeps fringe players waiting in Vidarbha

NAGPUR: The Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) seems to have forgotten the approach that made them the Ranji Trophy champions twice in a row. Earlier, there would be enough VCA tournaments for new players to showcase their talent. The pandemic put a brake on this practice for two years. However, matches are not being organized even now, leaving many fringe players waiting for matches that act as auditions ahead of the Ranji Trophy selections.

When Chandrakant Pandit was the coach, VCA had a holistic approach with Guzder League one-dayers, T20s, 2-day and Dorairajan Trophy organized one after the other, while VCA camps were also underway. On many occasions, Pandit even called good performers to the camp.
