Labour’s cornerstone workers' rights bill will finally become law after a House of Lords battle – legislation which is set to establish significant new rights for workers on matters from sick pay to parental leave and zero-hours contracts.
The bill has been hailed as a “generational shift” for workers’ rights by trade unions after it was finally conceded by Tory peers. The government has promised to pass the bill by Christmas, after Royal assent is expected to be given by Thursday.
