The unbridled, tax-slashing policies unveiled by Liz Truss’s Government last Friday are a right-wing rampage for the rich.
There is no doubt about which side the Tories are on. This is not even Thatcherism, blue in tooth and claw, it is fantasy politics – the economics of Narnia, as TUC leader Frances O’Grady pointed out.
Scotland, although it has a separate tax system, can’t but be affected by a new Tory leader who has swept in over the summer and seems hellbent on making the rich richer before the whole house comes crumbling down on her. If Boris Johnson was a disaster for the UK, it looks like Truss will be worse.
