Labour MP Zarah Sultana has received a death threat following what she called “misleading reports” over her stance on Ukraine.
In a statement on her Twitter page, Ms Sultana said she had been accused of being “Putin’s wh**e” in an email “full of racist abuse”.
She said: “I received a death threat from someone calling me ‘Putin’s wh**e’. I am in no doubt this horrific attack is the result of misleading reports and press comments.
“The environment this creates threatens the safety of public figures and narrows our democracy.”
Today I received a death threat from someone calling me “Putin’s whore”. I am in no doubt this horrific attack is the result of misleading reports and press comments.

The Coventry South MP was one of 11 Labour MPs had signed a statement for the Stop the War coalition.
The letter was also signed by Diane Abbott, John McDonnell, Richard Burgon, Ian Lavery, Beth Winter, Bell Ribeiro-Addy, Apsana Begum, Mick Whitley, Tahir Ali and Ian Mearns.
In the statement issued earlier this month, the group accused the British Government of "aggressive posturing" and said Nato "should call a halt to its eastward expansion".
Ms Sultana said she believed the abuse she received was directly linked to the way the issue had been reported in the media.
"I am in no doubt that this horrific and absurd attack is the direct result of inaccurate media reports and deliberately misleading press comments," she in a statement posted on Twitter.
"The environment this has created is an active danger to the safety of public figures, and threatens to narrow our democracy.
"Like all my colleagues, I am horrified at the Russian invasion of Ukraine. I stand with the people of Ukraine and have unequivocally condemned Putin’s actions."
