Kyogo dealt Celtic injury hammer blow as fans warned 'it's not going to be a quick return'

Celtic talisman Kyogo is set to miss a significant run of fixtures after Ange Postecoglou revealed the latest on his star man.

The Japanese international reaggravated a hamstring injury in the 3-1 win away to St Johnstone and appears no nearer to making a return to action.

Celtic face Hearts next week and Rangers the week after as Postecoglou goes in search of title glory in his first season in Scotland.

However, he will likely have to to do it in the coming weeks with his star man who has netted 16 goals in all competitions this season.

Speaking ahead of the Scottish Cup clash with Alloa, he said: "It's not going to be a quick return.

"I'm reluctant to put a timeframe on it. We're still looking at a number of weeks at the moment."

But there was more positive news on Thursday after Matt O'Riley sealed a £1.5m transfer from MK Dons.

And the Celtic boss is convinced his new signing has the intangibles to be a roaring success south of the border.

He added: "I’m very pleased to get him in. He’s a player who we’ve scouted for quite a while in terms of the football club.

"I became aware of him when I joined the club in the summer. He was one of the ones we were kind of looking at and it didn’t quite work out then.

“I followed his progress through the first half of this season with MK Dons and he’s had a really good season, strong season, and I see some really good football attributes in him that I think will fit in well with what we’re doing here.

“He’s also an outstanding young man and he really wants to get the most out of his career and the will fit really well culturally here.

"It was one we could do quickly which was also really important to me as it means he can come in and slot in straight away."
